About our research.
Although POAG has been one of the leading causes of vision loss in humans, the understanding of this disease is not thorough. The advantages of NHP models for human disease studies have been supported by past research, and their eye structure similarities to those of human eyes may provide scientists with more breakthroughs. Recently, our Non-Human Primate Research Team has discovered that several human ophthalmic features also presented on rhesus macaque monkeys in the colony. This new finding can provide more opportunities for a deeper understanding of human POAG natural history.
